Fun-Loving Christmas Gift Ideas for Your Furry Friend

The holidays are finally here, which only means one thing: it’s time to tackle that shopping list. If you are like us, your Christmas gift list includes both humans and animals. There is just something incredibly rewarding in giving your beloved pet a new Christmas-themed toy, treats, bed, or even jacket!

Many pet owners even buy their pets stockings and leave presents for them underneath the tree from “Santa”. They are family after all, right? Sure, your pets may not be able to give you a proper “thank you” like the rest of your family, but you know they appreciate being included in all of the holiday festivities.

Dogs, in particular, can pick up on human excitement in a heartbeat, which is why we like to think they know when the holidays are here, too. Our pets are happy when we are, which is why it’s so fun to include them in all the gift giving and holiday excitement. Furthermore, if you have a pet owner in your life and aren’t sure what to get them, why not get them something for Fido?

We don’t know a pet owner who doesn’t appreciate such a well-thought out gift as one that is intended for their dog, cat, or other furry companion. Let’s look at our top five favorite gifts for pets, or pet owners:

1. Pet Fleece Bolster Bed

One of our favorite gifts for pets here at Sykesville Veterinary Clinic are luscious pet beds. No matter how spoiled your pet already is, he or she may certainly deserve a new plush bed. We love the Orvis FleeceLock Bolster Futon, but there are tons of other options out there too. Take your pick! Regardless of which brand you go with, you can rest assured that your pet, big or small, will love you forever for their new comfy bed.

2. “Shake” by Carli Davidson

This is one for pet owners only, but we just had to put it on the list – it’s that good. This coffee table book is one of the best out there, especially when talking about creative pet photography. Author and photographer Carli Davidson decided to really “shake things up” with this book, compiling a series of portraits of dogs caught in the action of shaking off water. Get ready for a heart-melting Christmas!

3. The Tagg Tracker

This is a useful (albeit pricey) gift idea for both pets and their owners. For $100 (plus $7.95 per month), dog owners will be able to track how much exercise their pooch is getting, while also monitor his exact movements. This gift is both practical and fun, and it will help your pet too, especially if you think he or she’s a little on the heavy side! If the cost is too much to handle, there are plenty of other effective trackers on the market.

4. K9 H20 Travel Water Bottle

This is a wonderful gift for active pet owners who are always on-the-go with Fido. Instead of lugging around extra bowls and a water bottle, this handy stainless steel water bottle is designed specifically for dogs to drink out of the plastic cap. The tongue-friendly water trough allows your furry bestie to lap up water in a convenient and comfortable way while out navigating the trails and greenbelts.

5. Kong Toys

Kong is one of the leading dog toy companies, and for good reason. Their durable, eco-friendly, American-made dog toys come in a wide range of styles and sizes perfect for any dog. You won’t have to worry about Fido tearing the stuffing out of their new Christmas toy on day one when you give the gift of Kong, as these toys are designed to last a lifetime. They make products for both dogs and cats, which is even handier! We love the plush toys by Kong, but take your pick.

We hope these five gift ideas give you a good place to start with your holiday shopping this year. If you have any questions or need any additional recommendations, please do not hesitate to contact us today!
