Who We Are
Sykesville Veterinary Clinic has been serving this area since 1995 and was bought in 2002 by Dr. Ellen Colwell. Prior to purchasing SVC, Dr. Colwell was the primary veterinarian at Ellicott City Veterinary Clinic, where she built a large following of devoted clients who came to appreciate and rely on her dedication to quality, compassion, and personalized care.
Our facility is state-of-the-art and equipped for everything from complex surgical procedures to routine wellness care. Some of our specialties include pocket pets and chemotherapy, as well as dentistry and senior services. Unlike many vets in our area, we also offer house calls.
We’re located in Sykesville, MD—a vibrant, historic community just minutes from downtown Baltimore and 40 miles outside of Washington, D.C.

Sykesville Veterinary Clinic is seeking a part time or full-time veterinary assistant/receptionist to join our team in providing high-quality veterinary medical services and customer service to the Sykesville, Maryland-area pet population.

We’re seeking a full- or part-time Associate DVM for our growing, locally-owned practice who can help us continue to provide exceptional veterinary care. About This Position
We expect that as a veterinary professional or exceptional recent graduate you have a DVM/VMD, strong internal medicine and general surgery skills, and that you understand the day-to-day requirements of seeing and treating patients. In addition to those duties, you’ll be most successful in this position if you:
• have a minimum of 1 year of clinical experience or are a stellar recent graduate
• are a good communicator
• have a positive, optimistic attitude
• some specialty experience, particularly with exotics, pocket pets, and/or certification in animal acupuncture
• a collaborative spirit—our team works together very well
