Our pet care services are used to allow us to better evaluate you pet’s internal organs, obtain tissue biopsies and retrieve foreign objects. Additionally, an ultrasound or radiologic test may help aid us in the diagnosis of certain types of cancer. Radiology services may also include X-rays, CT scans and MRI scans.

With a wide range of pet care services that are both innovative and groundbreaking, we are able to provide the best care to your pets, ensuring they live a long and healthy life. These services act as an important part of diagnostic imaging in veterinary medicine, allowing our team to exam your pet and make a diagnosis.

Ultrasound Services

An ultrasound is the best, noninvasive and painless way to evaluate soft tissue organs in pets. This may include your pet’s liver, spleen, kidney, pancreas, eye, lymph nodes, testicles, intestinal tract, prostate, uterus/ovaries and heart.

An ultrasound works by sending painless sound waves to your pet’s organs, capturing images that your vet will then be able to evaluate. Unlike X-rays, an ultrasound does not use any radiation and provides a complete internal view of the architecture of the organs. Ultrasounds are often used in conjunction with X-rays to confirm a specific diagnosis.

Radiology Services

Radiology services often refers to the use of X-rays to examine your pet’s animal for injury or disease. Used to assess bones, the heart, lungs, and abdominal organs, radiology services is often the first line of diagnostic imaging that will allow us to make a diagnosis or direct further imaging.

These tests are quick, painless and budget-friendly, making it a great choice if you are concerned your pet has been injured or is suffering from some sort of illness or disease. Radiology services have revolutionized veterinary medicine, as it is a convenient way to examine animals and shows far more detail than past methods.

Endoscopy Services

Endoscopy is a minimally invasive technique used to evaluate your pet’s internal organs. An endoscopy uses specialized fiber-optic equipment that will project an image from inside of your pet onto a television screen, allowing your veterinarian to better assess what is going on internally.

An endoscopy allows instruments to be fed through a channel inside the scope, allowing the technician to guide them and retrieve foreign objects or tissue samples. An endoscopy does not require an incision to be made, nor is it painful for your pet. However, it should be noted that anesthesia is required for this procedure. While the use of anesthesia does come with some risks, our Sykesville team strives to do everything we can to prevent any problems from occurring.

Whether your pet has been injured or is acting abnormal and you think he or she may be suffering from a disease or illness, all of the above mentioned pet care services are in place to help your pet get back to their happy and healthy self.
